REEVESdesign New designs at the IFFS Singapore 2018

This year at the IFFS Singapore, we featured a bedroom, dining room and library - cum - living room area complete with the new Pinlock shelving.

Here are a few pictures from the exhibition and some images of the product on the REEVESdesign stand for your reference.

Delving into the archives I've taken the opportunity to relaunch the Louis collection in solid walnut and oak in celebration of Louis receiving recognition as one of Heal's "100 Design Icons" of the last 100 years status. The solid wood brings an inviting warmth to the range and the grain contours the curved sweeping lines of the Louis silhouette.

Shown above is the Louis bedroom presenting the Louis Four Poster with the new ombre black to white finish.

The Louis solid oak dining table and matching chairs in oak and walnut are accompanied by the Louis chest of 3 drawers in oak, Louis rectangular mirror in oak, the newly proportioned Talon Petite Lounge chair upholstered in thyme green Libeco Belgian linen and colour matched Louis lacquered side table.

The Louis Armoire has now been made in solid walnut (or solid oak). Shown below with book-matched walnut veneer laid at 45 degrees to emphasise his handsome silhouette and lines.

Forever a signature piece, the Louis Four Poster is now finished in an ombre of black to white. When one lies on this mattress the ombre of the posts seem to  fade and disappear into the ceiling, or even clouds in the sky.

Further developments included reworking the gorgeous Louis Mirrors in solid walnut and solid oak and the petite Louis Bedside with one drawer.

Likewise the timeless Louis Chest of Three Drawers has been made in walnut and oak with soft closing runners.

Louis Etagere's and shelving now available in solid oak and walnut.

The Louis side chairs have officially been launched in solid walnut and solid oak, both in upholstered and rattan options. The rattan version shown below received great admiration and attention at the show with beautiful lines and colour matched rattan.

REEVESdesign were introduced to the fantastic Libeco brand, the leader in Belgian linen. The pastel colours chosen were selected to emphasise the softness in tone of the oak and the striking contrast of the walnut, shown here in Klein blue and Glycine pink - also available in Thyme Green and Lavender (see below) - other colours, fabrics and leathers are available at time of order.

The classic Louis Dining Table has been developed in 3 options of solid wood. FSC sustainably sourced American black walnut, white oak and for the eclectic among us, a combination of solid white oak frame and American black walnut table top.

Here a room set with chairs shows off the Louis Dining Table in solid walnut and upholstered Louis side chairs.

And again with the Louis Dining Table in solid oak and upholstered Louis side chairs.

Once more with the Louis Dining Table in solid oak frame and solid walnut table top, surrounded by upholstered Louis side chairs.

The Louis tray also made an appearance in options of high gloss or matt in colours that matched the Libeco linen - thyme green, glycine pink, lavender, Klein blue, white and black lacquers.

There have also been some new developments in the Talon collection following the initial lounge chair launch last year, we were requested to develop a more compact, petite version of the lounge chair and a love seat.

I also wanted to launch the range in solid oak as a contrasting alternative to the darker solid walnut. The pastel tones selected from the Libeco linen fabric really complement the natural softness of the more pale oak hue.

Other fabrics and leathers are available upon order enquiry.

A small flock of Talon Petite Lounge chairs showing the gradation of colours from the Libeco linen colour pallet sit on top of a fun hand made stripy rug that emphasises the colours and the lines of the Pinlock shelving behind.

The Talon love seat in solid oak and Glycine pink linen accompanied by the Geometric Tall Triangular occasional table in Volakas white marble and faux bronze base (cast in 100% recycled aluminium). The  new Pinlock shelving creates a neutral grid to display objet and offset the organic curves of the Talon.

Colour matching lacquer to the Libeco Belgian linen has worked to great effect, as well as being fun. Shown here, the Talon Petite Lounge chairs in thyme green and walnut frame with matching thyme green Louis side table. Centre - Geometric Marble Occasional tables in Carrara white marble and faux bronze legs.

The chairs take on a diferent feeling altogether when upholstered in Glycine pink.

Below we can see the Talon Love Seat making up a room set with matching Talon Petite Lounge Chair in lavender coloured Belgian linen.

New for 2018 - Pinlock Shelving

The totally new design in the REEVES collection this year is the Pinlock Shelving.

Throughout my travels I have been fascinated by the various hardware and engineering found on the different modes of transport that I have traveled in, whether it be the various aluminium catches and latches in the galley of a plane or these incredibly efficient and direct fastenings used on rail tracks - the Pandrol clip.

\

Almost like the famous "Bic biro", these Pandrol clips work so well that they are often overlooked and taken for granted. Their sheer functionality and direct spring loaded contact between the rail and sleeper really ties the track down.

The genius of this industrial hardware has a beauty all of its own, its simplicity is its elegance.

Therefore the Pinlock shelving is my subtle homage to  the Pandrol clip, a modular shelving system that clips together in 2 directions (side to side and front to back) by the simple means of a bent rod of brass plated steel. The clip slips through 2 aligned holes in the walnut legs and hugs around the two holding them together firmly.

For the launch I chose to show the vertical legs in solid walnut in reference to the straight track lines of the railroad, the horizontal shelves in natural oak are reminiscent of the sleepers and the pinlock is celebrated in a bright brass plate. Other more monochromatic versions are available in totally solid oak or totally solid walnut.

The shelving is available as the rectangular version and also the square etagere version. They are packed as one shelving tower per box with 2 brass Pinlocks per tower. This system will allow a room to quickly become a library or be partitioned and divided. On each tower, and between each pair of shelves there is a hole, this allows for the shelving to be cut down at varying heights by cutting the leg (if required) just above the shelf. The pinlock is then simply dropped down to the next available hole.

Shown below the Pinlock Square Etagere versions.

Also new this year, we launched the Talon Zinc outdoor round  bistro table with a spiral fan solid teak wood top. This completes the Talon Bistro set along with the Talon Zinc chairs with teak slats. There is also a slightly larger square teak wood bistro table for outdoor also.

The casting is made in 100% recycled sand cast aluminium with zinc plate patina. The teak wood is FSC sourced and is shipped with a sanded finish that will slightly silver and grey over time.

Finally a special mention and thanks to London based ceramic artist Susie Q Newbigging who speedily put together two amazing large plates utilising her experiments with indigo and paper clay porcelain.

I look forward to receiving your enquiries.

All these designs are now available with minimum order quantity, along with our previous collections.

Thank you and kind regards,

John Reeves
