The ICFF 2010 saw the launch of the Arthur chair in black American Walnut alongside the new graphite zinc cast aluminium Sketch coffee table and the rest of the new Sketch collection.

Marvelous response to all new introductions and fantastic to be in New York for another year.

The poised anthropomorphic shape of the SKETCH collection captures the tension between the stationary and the moving, the living and the inanimate, the manmade and the natural; rather like a 3 dimensional petrification of anamorphic evolution.
The slightly surreal and organic form exploration was developed by loosely and impulsively drawing directly onto AutoCAD software using a “computer tablet”. Through this lucid engagement and direct communication, intuitively marking “cutting lines” and edges with the stroke of the stylus rather than the painstaking process of refining through nudging nodes and vectors, this form development was spontaneous and immediate.
Each piece has a synthesis with another and all are similarly reminiscent of organic form found in cave formations and nature, rather like a species, the new product has formed almost through random chance, albeit with a designers watchful eye.

Each piece is signed and dated on the underside by the designer, John Reeves.

Please come and see for yourself at two locations in New York City;

May 15th - 18th : ICFF, Booth 2252, Jacob K Javits Center and

May 13th - ongoing : REEVESdesign at ABC HOME, 888 Broadway, NY, 4th Floor.

See you there.

22.04.2010 / Heal’s Bicentenary – CAST Bench and Side Table

I designed the CAS1 Collection in 2009 with Heal’s bicentenary in mind. Heal’s have taken the bench and side table and renamed them boldly and simply as “CAST”. Here are some glorious pictures taken by Heal’s.

On a recent trip to Luang Prabang in Laos, I discovered this elephants head covered in fantastic mirrored glass. I couldn't help but be reminded of British artist, Damien Hirst' diamond encrusted skull.
